If you’re ready to start your custom journey, here’s what you can look forward to when designing a bespoke piece with us.
Getting started
Begin by completing our custom inquiry form. Here you can share your ideas, preferred timeline, and any inspiration or materials you’d like us to consider — we love seeing your photos, sketches, and references.
Once we review your inquiry, we will schedule a brief call with Regina. It’s simply a chance to chat through the process, share a little about your partner—their tastes, what they love (and don’t!), your budget, and any specific ideas you already have. From there, Regina will help guide you toward creating something truly special and personal.
Designing begins
Once we’ve gathered your details, we’ll shape your ideas and preferences into an initial vision for your piece. During this stage, Regina will create a mood board that captures the key design elements from our discussion—helping you visualize options for gemstones, cuts, settings, and overall style.
We’ll also ensure your vision aligns with our aesthetic and approach. If your project falls outside the scope of what we offer at Nora Alford, we’ll let you know early on with full transparency and respect for your time and ideas.
If all aligns, we can move forward with the next steps. An initial deposit of $500 will be required to initiate stone sourcing, design work, and provide estimated timelines. This ensures we can devote the proper time and resources to your project.
Sourcing your stone
Selecting the perfect stone is at the heart of every bespoke piece. We carefully source gemstones based on quality, cut, and budget, ensuring each one aligns with your vision. If you’re in the DFW area, you may have the chance to view selected stones in person. For online clients, we provide detailed photos and videos so you can make a confident and informed decision.
From concept to creation
After selecting your stone, we bring your vision to life with a fully custom design. Every setting is created to perfectly fit your stone’s size, shape, and personality—no templates, no compromises. Each piece is carefully crafted to support, highlight, and complement the gem.
You’ll be involved every step of the way, reviewing sketches and 3D renderings, sharing feedback, and requesting adjustments. We only move forward with production once the design feels exactly right to you.
Off to production
If you choose, we can create a wearable model of your piece using 3D printing, allowing you to see and feel the design before final production. Please note that this optional step may add a few weeks to the timeline, but it's especially useful for checking size, fit, and comfort.
Otherwise, once the CAD is approved, your design will be sent into our production queue, where a team of bench jewelers will cast the setting, carefully set the stones, and polish your piece for a pristine finish.
The finishing touch
We will reach out as soon as your piece is complete and on hand. Before shipment, the remaining balance will need to be collected, and all shipment details verified. Your jewelry is then securely packaged and shipped with full insurance. For local clients in the DFW area, we also offer the option to pick up your piece in person.
